
Wenying Wu (吳文英) graduated from the China Conservatory of Music with a major in Yangqin (Chinese dulcimer). She is the author of the instructional book Starting from Scratch: An Introduction to the Yangqin.
She performed the Yangqin at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and has given outstanding solo performances at the Los Angeles Grand Theater, California’s Little White House, the California Grand Theater, and New York’s Carnegie Hall.
In 2021, she performed at the Spring Festival Gala Celebration in collaboration with the renowned San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. In the same year, she participated in the National Dulcimer Championship of America held in Kansas and won the Dulcimer Grand Prix, becoming the only Chinese contestant to receive an award in the competition.
