A prominent young Gehu artist and expert in Chinese bowed-string instrument modification, Yuxin Wu graduated from Berklee College of Music and the University of Southern California (USC). He currently serves as the Lead of Instrument R&D at Shanghai No. 1 National Musical Instruments Factory (Dunhuang), focusing on acoustic enhancement and modern structural design for the Gehu, the traditional Chinese bass bowed-string instrument. His key Gehu design was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award.
Wu has been invited to lecture on Chinese traditional music at top academic institutions, including MIT, Harvard University, and USC. He has also performed on high-profile stages such as the CCTV Spring Festival Gala and major New Year’s Eve broadcasts. Blending traditional heritage with contemporary expression, he actively promotes the evolution and global awareness of Chinese low-register bowed string instruments.
