A Midsummer Chinese Music Concert: Masters and Masterpieces<\/em><\/strong> (8\/1\/2026)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

National First-Class Conductor Yang Chunlin<\/a> Leads an All-Star Lineup Featuring Zhu Changyao<\/a>, Wenying Wu<\/a>, Yu Zhang<\/a>, Yang Yongjuan<\/a>, and Other Renowned Chinese Musicians<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los Angeles, CA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chinese Music Association of Southern California (CMASC)<\/strong> will proudly present \u201cA Midsummer Chinese Music Concert: Masters and Masterpieces\u201d<\/strong> on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 7:00 PM<\/strong> in the Los Angeles area. Featuring some of the most distinguished Chinese traditional musicians and professional performers from around the world, this concert will focus on pure instrumental music and showcase the richness, depth, and diversity of Chinese musical heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concert is produced by Landy Lee<\/a><\/strong>, President of CMASC, and will feature guest conductor Yang Chunlin<\/a><\/strong>, China\u2019s National First-Class Conductor and renowned composer, together with CMASC Resident Conductor Xing Changjiang<\/a><\/strong>. Under their direction, the orchestra will perform a selection of celebrated Chinese orchestral and instrumental masterpieces, highlighting both the artistic sophistication and cultural significance of traditional Chinese music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This special event brings together an impressive roster of acclaimed artists, including Zhu Changyao<\/a><\/strong>, a leading representative of the Jiangnan Sizhu tradition; Wenying Wu<\/a><\/strong>, virtuoso Yangqin performer; Yu Zhang<\/a><\/strong>, distinguished Suona soloist; and Yang Yongjuan<\/a><\/strong>, former Associate Principal of the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater Orchestra and a National First-Class Performer. Additional musicians from prestigious institutions such as the Central Conservatory of Music<\/strong>, Shanghai Conservatory of Music<\/strong>, Tianjin Conservatory of Music<\/strong>, and Xinghai Conservatory of Music<\/strong> will also participate, making this a truly exceptional evening of Chinese instrumental music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zhu Changyao<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zhu Changyao will perform the Hengchun folk song \u201cThinking of Home\u201d (Si Xiang Qi)<\/strong> on the Da Guang Xian<\/strong>, a traditional Taiwanese string instrument, capturing the rustic charm and emotional depth of Taiwan\u2019s folk music tradition. He will also join Gehu performer Wu Yuyi<\/strong> in the duet \u201cLooking Toward Each Other\u201d (Xiang Wang)<\/strong>, a deeply expressive work featuring an intimate musical dialogue between the two instruments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wenying Wu<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yangqin virtuoso Wenying Wu will present her original composition \u201cSpring Blossoms and the Song of Orioles\u201d<\/strong>, a work that combines sophisticated musical textures with extraordinary technical artistry to evoke reflections on memory, life, and the passage of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yu Zhang<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suona master Yu Zhang will perform the beloved classic \u201cHundreds of Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix\u201d (Bai Niao Chao Feng)<\/strong>, using the instrument\u2019s powerful and expressive voice to portray the vitality and beauty of the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yang Yongjuan<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Huqin artist Yang Yongjuan will perform the famous Peking Opera melody \u201cYe Shen Chen\u201d (Deep Into the Night)<\/strong>, demonstrating the dynamic balance of strength and elegance characteristic of traditional Chinese operatic music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
