Celia Liu

Ms. Liu is a famous pipa virtuoso. She graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music and was a member of the China National Traditional Orchestra. She has performed numerous times at the Beijing Concert Hall and on CCTV, and she represented China at art festivals in Germany and Singapore. Since arriving in the U.S. in 1991, she has recorded music for over 100 episodes of Warner Bros’ TV show “Kung Fu,” the Disney film “Our Floating Dream,” the Nickelodeon show “Kung Fu Panda,” and the Universal film “Pavilion of Women.”

Ms. Liu has performed at the Disney Concert Hall. She played “Moonlight Over Spring River” with the symphony orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl and was interviewed on NBC television. She also performed the National Anthem on the pipa before an NBA game at the Staples Center. In 2004, Ms. Liu was invited by Japanese composer Missa Johnouchi to collaborate with the renowned Paris Opera Orchestra on the recording of the pipa concerto “Kuge.” Recently, Ms. Liu was invited by University of Southern Utah guitar professor Dr. Jon Yerby to a seminar on the pipa and guitar. She also performed the pipa concerto “Conqueror Shedding His Armor” with the Southern Utah Symphony Orchestra. More recently, she was invited by music producer Adam Michalak to record music for the video game “League of Legends.”
