The Chinese Music Association of Southern California (CMASC) was founded in 2016 by the late Taiwanese entrepreneur Mr. Peter Wang, a passionate advocate of Chinese music. We are a nonprofit organization composed of both professional and amateur musicians, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional Chinese music. Under the leadership of President Landy Lee, with renowned Chinese national first-class performer and erhu virtuoso Yang Liu serving as Artistic Director and Concertmaster, and celebrated erhu performer, composer, and national first-class actor Changyao Zhu as Artistic Consultant, our members are deeply passionate about Chinese music and committed to promoting Chinese traditional music.
Our orchestra is based in the peaceful and prosperous city of Walnut, California, often referred to as the “Alps of Southern California—Little Switzerland.” We host an annual concert at the Sophia B. Clarke Theater in Walnut, providing a platform for musicians from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Our mission is to foster cultural exchange between the U.S. and China while actively participating in various cultural and charity events in Southern California, promoting the integration and development of diverse cultures.
We usually practice every Friday from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Walnut United Methodist Church. If you are a professional or skilled amateur Chinese music player and would like to join us, please contact us.
