Yang, Chunlin (楊春林) is a National First-Class Conductor of the China Oriental Song and Dance Troupe, distinguished as a conductor, composer, and orchestrator. He has achieved notable accomplishments in symphonic music, Chinese orchestral music, light music, and electronic music.
As a conductor, he has collaborated successfully with many renowned orchestras in China and abroad.
As a composer, his works span a wide range of genres, including Chinese orchestral music, symphonic music, military band music, light music, electronic music, film scores, television music, musicals, and songs. His compositions have received numerous awards in national competitions. He has also presented more than ten personal concerts featuring his works in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Nanjing, Taiwan, Malaysia, and other locations.
As a music theorist, he has published A Course in Chinese Orchestral Instrumentation and A Concise Course in Harmony. The People’s Music Publishing House is currently compiling and publishing The Collected Musical Works of Yang Chunlin.
He has frequently served as a judge for music competitions organized by China’s Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, China Central Television (CCTV), as well as competitions in Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and various regions throughout China. In addition, he has made significant contributions to youth Chinese orchestras through theoretical guidance, composition, orchestra formation, and rehearsal instruction.
He has served as a guest professor at Renmin University of China and National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. He is also President of the Performance Arts Committee of the Beijing Musical Instrument Society and President of the Australia–China Musicians Association.
He has visited numerous countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and North Korea.
